Confirm how far down on the edges of the footstool you want the cover to hang. Measure from this point, up the side, across the top plus down the opposite side to the same point height. Add an inch to the current total for seam allowance. Repeat by measuring between the different two sides of the footstool plus adding an inch. Cut one sq. or rectangle of upholstery or heavy material using these measurements, for the cover. Cut one piece of solid cotton cloth in the coordinating color, using the measurements. This piece will be the lining of the cover. Center the upholstery cloth on top of the footstool with the wrong side up. At 1 corner, smooth down the draping cloth on the adjoining sides. Pin the fabric along over the corner side. The excess sticking out at the corner will resemble a triangle. Pin the remaining 3 corners during the same way.
Take away the cover. Sew along the pinned corners to form the boxed form of the footstool cover. Trim off the excess corners a half-inch from the stitched lines. Separate the seams plus press them open. Repeat steps 3, four plus five with the lining fabric. Turn the upholstery material cover right side out. Set it within the liner cover. Match the seams and the overall edges. Pin the edges together. Sew all the way round the pinned edge employing a half of inch seam allowance. Leave a 3-in. opening along 1 side. Turn the cover right side out through the opening. Press the footstools cover to take away wrinkles and smooth the edges. The opening in the side must be folded inward to match the stitched edge.
