Unique Coffee Tables
A travertine coffee table offers its own standard of architectural elegance to any modern room. This is a look that you cannot achieve with ordinary wood or glass tabletops. Most of these tables are appropriately featured in a rectangular or square shape. Sets with both coffee and lamp tables are available, and either wood or tubular steel form the bases. The clean, modern appearance of the stone looks well against background tapestries or when utilized for sofas with textured pillows; you can also pair it with austere furniture and drapery lines.
This graceful stone originally was mined in Turkey, Italy, and the Baltic regions. Supplies from Italy have diminished, and in its place Mexico has yielded plentiful supplies. The natural colors include varying shades of grays through browns to coral red tints. Travertine looks like limestone or marble, but it is neither; it forms from calcium precipitates, with the range of colors characteristic of varying water temperatures during formation.
This also results in beautiful intrinsic striations in the appearance of the rock, with each piece natural and unique. No two pieces are exactly alike. Natural travertine has a pitted surface. To produce some of the beautiful travertine coffee table examples that we see today, the stone can be effectively highly polished. The rock is also quarried and applied as a veneer, and is used in some cases for table top surfaces or also for wall and flooring tiles.
A Crate-and-Barrel offering of four types includes two Travertina coffee table styles, one in a rectangular shape and one square. The rectangular style measures 48" in width and 28" in depth. The square one is 36" per side. Both of these tables measure 17" high. There are coordinating console (48"w x 16"d x 30"h) and Parsons (20"w x 30"d x 22.5"h) tables. The stone topping these selections is a delicate pink. The table frames are dark gray rolled steel. Costco presents a dramatic chocolate travertine collection utilizing wooden bases, with the cocktail table square (43" per side) and 18" high.
This piece coordinates with a lamp table (30" per side x 24" high) and a console table (60"w x 20"d x 29"h). Hammary manufactures similar-sized pieces on a cross-worked frame of gunmetal tubular steel and with the travertine stone itself a light shade of gray. These pieces range in price from $500 to $2,500. Your travertine coffee table not only functions as a beautiful appointment in your living area but also serves as an artistic investment.
