Bring Back Your Old Home To Its Former Glory

Large, beautiful homes built in the 1800′s have been getting a serious shot in the arm over the last few years, especially when it comes to remodeling. Choosing whether to bring the home into the twenty-first century or preserve it will be the most difficult choice.

Obviously the best choice is the renovate to as original as possible. The interior of such classic homes really should match with the exterior. By doing so, the money you put into the home will continue to grow. The hardest part of this process is in finding furnishings and appliances that mimic the era yet allow for modern conveniences and comfort. There are company’s who have taken the time and put the effort forward to provide such items.

The good news is that the bedrooms will be the easiest to renovate. One of the most popular beds, the sleigh bed, is still quite popular today. Not only are they relatively easy to find, they are offered at very good prices so are easier on the pocketbook. In fact, this bed is very popular for all homes as it brings a little romance to the room.

After a long, back-breaking day of laying new floorboards or cleaning out the basement, there is nothing so relaxing as climbing into a king sleigh bed for a good nights’ sleep. Originally, these beds only came in a single size, but that has been augmented to accommodate as many size mattresses as are available on today’s market.

Since the bedrooms are the easiest to remodel, they are also usually the first done. A bit of paint, maybe a little plaster work and flooring repair and they are once again ready to use. Since the most difficult part is locating the period pieces, you may have to do a bit of extra searching. Before long though, you will have the entire interior of the house complete and ready to begin on the exterior.

One thing that old homes always have is old trees. Many of these are most likely going to have to come home as they are either too close to the house, or they are in bad condition themselves. With the use of an echo chainsaw, it doesn’t take long to trim off branches or cut them down for stump removal.

A good paint job and a bit of landscaping and you have a timeless home to be enjoyed for many more decades, if not centuries.
