Gone are the days when a man’s bedroom looks like an untidy heap of colors, shapes and furnishings. Nowadays, more and more men are into creating their own comfort zone. While the sense of style may have evolved, the same approach in selecting items remains the same: simplicity.
Men go for items that require little or no maintenance. And that’s really not surprising. They go for hairdos which require only a quick running of the fingers. They go for wedding bands for men that are unadorned and don’t meddle with the handyman in them. The same is true with the bedroom: they don’t like extras that serve no purpose.
Surfaces that are easy to clean are popular among men. Examples of such surfaces include wood, stainless steel and stone. All it takes for these surfaces to be sparkling clean is a simple wiping with a cloth. Aside from the fact that they look masculine, they also give the practicality men can’t seem to have enough of.
Incorporating outdoor elements in the bedroom is also a favorite. The view outside is much better when there’s a river, mountain, jungle, park, golf course, and the like. Large windows are much better, as they permit more natural air and lighting. Minimize installation of window fixtures such as drapes or blinds. Items in blue, green and red are popular choices among men.
A bed is usually the centerpiece of the room. Popular bed frames include those crafted from dark hardwood or iron. A night stand is also important where they can easily put a book, magazine, pocket music player, alarm clock, etc. When it comes to the quilt set, go for something with solid colors or patterns such as pinstripes, plaid or herringbone.
Space is very precious nowadays. That’s why many appliances get slimmer and slimmer, like an LCD TV. Eliminate all those massive armoires and similar furnishings from a man’s room. Instead, go for those with multiple drawers, as men like spaces where they can place their things. When selecting furnishings, go for multifunctional ones.
Women select an item by means of how it appeals to them. On the other hand, men select an item because of its functionality. Have a couple shop for womens and mens wedding rings. Don’t be surprised if the man finishes first. Men simply go for quality, and not the extras that go with it.
